Following the Trustees Board meeting at the end of January 2016 it was decided to fund a number of key infrastructure programmes at our schools in Amboseli.

  • Tables & chairs for the Dining Hall at Ol Moti
  • Boys urinal at Ol Moti
  • Gate repairs at Ol Moti
  • 3 x teacher’s house units at Lenkisem
  • 2 x Principal & Deputy Principal houses at Lenkisem
  • Gate repairs at Lenkisem
  • 1 x classroom at Lenkisem

The total approved spend for the projects was £22,000.

Our partner in Kenya, the Born Free Foundation manages the programme on our behalf. Latest update from Manoa below regarding the classroom construction at Lenkisem:

“The contractor started the work in late June by delivering key material such as sand, concrete, wood and cement to the site. At the beginning of July 2016, the foundation for the classroom was done. However, the community borehole pump broke down and requires about Ksh 200,000 to repair. The community had several meetings and by yesterday, they had raised the money to repair the pump. It is estimated that the repair work will take about a week. We therefore anticipate the contractor to continue with the work as from Friday 22nd July 2016. Attached please find the initial photos from the site. I will keep you posted as soon as the project resumes. Pass our regards to your family and friends”
