As you know, later this month two of our trustees are visiting Kenya and are going to be visiting the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT).

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a haven for elephant orphans, rhinos and other animals. The main work that the Trust does is their Orphan’s Project. The project involves rescuing milk-dependent orphaned infant elephants in the hope of them reaching their ultimate rehabilitation back into the wild.

For the younger elephants or the babies their journey begins at the DSWT nursery, located in Nairobi.

At the nursery they receive hands on care and the love and support they need in order to overcome the physical and psychological trauma of being orphaned. This therefore means they can start to enjoy the life they deserve.

Members of the public have the opportunity to help the elephants on their journey by fostering one of the orphans. When our trustees visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, they are going to be fostering two baby elephant orphans. One of them is called Jotto!

Keep an eye out on social media and the website for updates of their trip to Kenya and of course the DSWT.
